Visit Applewood Farm for Fall Country Fun Jenn, October 2, 2015October 2, 2015 Sharing is caring! Share Tweet Pin Applewood Farm is tucked away in a little corner of Harford County, Maryland. This family owned 100 acre farm opens it’s doors to the public for fall and winter family fun days. Last Saturday was a gorgeous crisp day, so we set out for Applewood for the afternoon, we even packed a picnic lunch as you are welcome to use their free pavilion. You can also purchase hot dogs, cider, chips and drinks inside the barn at the Applewood Café. Costing only $4 per person Applewood Farm is a really inexpensive afternoon of fun for the kids. I know after spending 3 hours on the farm playing my girls were ready for a nap when we came home. Once you are done playing you can purchase all of your fall decorating items at the farm including corn stalks, mums and pumpkins of all sizes. Cash and credit are both accepted. Included in your farm admission: Continuous Hay Rides to the pumpkin patch Moon Bounce Petting Zoo Corn Maze Kiddie Maze Lawn Bowling Reindeer Antler Toss Model Trains Spooky Spot Picture Boards Applewood Play Ground Picnic Area Pedal Tractors Be sure to buy your ticket in the barn for the Applewood Express Train! Only $4 per person. This historically accurate replica of an 1865 vintage wood burning steam locomotive pulls 2 covered coaches with 42 passengers along a 3/4 mile tour through the farm’s lower pasture and Christmas tree plantings. Train Buff Alert: This 1963 Allen Herschell S-24 “Iron Horse” is one of the last of these premier “estate trains” still operating. Our train is 5′ wide, with 2 covered coaches and carries 30 adults or 42 children. Applewood Farm is a throwback to more simple fall outdoor activities, and a refreshing change of pace for a full day of fun.
