Universal Orlando thrills are by no means in short supply. When traveling with teens most are looking for thrills, the bigger the better normally. Plan a trip with your teen to experience these top thrill rides, and maybe they will put down the phone and share in your adventure. If you aren’t a fan of roller coasters, that’s OK; nobody said you had to ride! Leave all the big hills, fast turns, and loops to the teens in your travel party.
My daughters are nine years apart. This can often cause a bit of discord at amusement parks because my younger daughter is only nine and can’t ride everything due to height limits. At times I take my oldest daughter, on Mom & Me trips so we can get a little crazy without her sister.
Universal Orlando Thrills with Teens
Count backwards with me as we look at my favorite rides with my teen at Universal Orlando. Why do I count backwards? The number one spot is a must ride every trip for us, and number five is if we have time we will ride.
#4 Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey
My daughter and I love sharing Harry Potter books and movies. This ride allows us to live the experience of the most surreal indoor ride I have experienced
After we wound our way through the vivid tour of Hogwarts Castle; we soared high above the grounds with Harry Potter and friends on an unforgettable adventure coming face-to-face with an array of magical creatures!
#3 Choose a soundtrack on Rip Ride Rockit
Oh my, this coaster is one for the books! I didn’t ride on our first, even our second trip, after our third trip I faced my own fears. Going straight up in the air on my back was just a little too over the top, even for this coaster fan.
There is an iPod on the ride harness and is loaded with all of our favorite hits and you can choose the soundtrack for the ride. I don’t even recall the song I chose!
Reaching top speeds of 65 mph and towering 17 stories over Universal Studios. Orlando’s tallest roller coaster also features several exciting, “never been done” elements, including the world’s first non-inverting loop.
#2 Revenge of the Mummy
This ride is unexpected with dark elements and speed. The Mummy has become my daughter’s favorite ride. As a dark ride goes it is completely different and fast!
You’ll plunge into total darkness, plagued on all sides by huge fireballs, swarms of scarab beetles and an army of warrior mummies. The ride catapulted us at speeds up to 45 mph in virtual darkness. While this may not be the fastest or tallest on the list, it is a thrill seeker favorite.
#1 Incredible Hulk Coaster
My daughter and I love to start and finish our day at Universal on the Incredible Hulk. When you ride at night you have no clue where you are going.
Accelerate from zero to 40 mph in two seconds flat with the force equal to that of a jet taking off an aircraft carrier. The world turns upside down as you experience a weightless “zero g” roll.
All I could do was hang on and experience the rage, power and fury of the Hulk, smashing through the sky and plummeting down to earth on a high-speed roller coaster rampage of destruction.
If you ride these with your teens when you visit Universal Orlando, you may just be added to the cool parent list. Your vacation may even end up on their snap chat story. I will warn you that Rip Ride Rockit records you the entire ride; the kids want to watch you scream in terror over and over again.
