Vacationing often brings a mix of both excitement and nerves, whether you are flying solo, or traveling with a toddler to embark on a family getaway. It’s so important to keep health and wellness at the top of your mind when traveling in order to relax and feel your best while vacationing. When packing your bags, it can often be hard to determine what to bring or squeeze in your suitcase. Even if you pack light, keep in mind the much-needed self-care items you need to make room for on your travel packing list.

Sleep Essentials

Finding ways to get comfortable when traveling is not often easy. Whether you are flying or taking a road trip, optimizing your comfort is a must. We all know how cramped it is on a plane, or how we can only recline in our car so much. Therefore when traveling long distances you will want to be able to have good posture and be able to nap comfortably.

  1. U-Shaped Pillow

One great way to get comfortable is to try using a U-shaped pillow. This pillow can wrap around your neck for optimal support and comfort. This can help you take a much-needed rest no matter where you are traveling.

  1. Weighted Blanket

Whatever mode of transportation you are taking to get to your destination, it may not be the most climate controlled. It can be hard to relax when you feel too cold or hot. Using a weighted travel blanket can be a great solution for your needs, it can also be a great option for children, so they can feel snuggled in without using a thick blanket.

Skin Care

Traveling can take a toll on your body, especially your skin. From increased sun exposure to dryness, there are many things to consider when prioritizing your skin health on the road. Don’t forget to pack some skincare essentials.

  1. Sunscreen

Packing sunscreen may be on your mind if you are planning for fun in the sun, but you may forget the need for it even if you may not be going to the sunniest of destinations. Even on an overcast day, wearing sunscreen can prevent you from having sun-damaged skin. There are plenty of great options from bb make-up creams with built-in SPF, eco-friendly lotions, or even great children’s sunscreen for your tots.

  1. Acne Cream

Vacationing can be a skin stressor. With all the logistics and additional activities you will be doing, you will want to keep your skin clean and clear to the best of your ability. Certain places may cause you to sweat more than you usually do, and the last thing you want is any acne breakouts. In addition to your sunscreen, don’t forget to pack a customized acne cream to target and treat any pimples you have on vacation.

Relaxation Solutions

Finding ways to de-stress when traveling can truly help you get the most out of your trip. You will want to be able to unwind and get away from the stress of everyday life, all while being able to calm any nerves you may experience during your trip as well. Making space for these relaxation tools can help you find calm.

  1. Journal

Bringing a journal on vacation is such a great way to practice not only self-care but to create a unique and custom keepsake for your journey. You can write down what is on your mind, or get creative by channeling your energy into poetry jotting down your thoughts, observations, and experiences on your trip. Another cool thing about journaling is that you could have your child write in the journal, tape your boarding pass, metro card, or tuck a postcard souvenir inside.

  1. Coloring Book

Finding a relaxing way to pass the time when traveling to and from your destination is so important for self-care. It can be tempting to let your mind wander too much, or become bored, or be a little antsy on long trips. Something great to do to pass your time could be to get creative with an adult travel coloring book. Some books are the perfect size to bring, and can even feature famous places you plan on checking out.

Deciding what to bring on your next trip can be a challenge. When trying to determine how many bags you should pack, or what to include, self-care items are ones to make space for. You may think that one more sundress is what you need, but self-care essentials can truly change your vacation experience for the better.
