Titanic Museum Attraction: A Family Friendly History Lesson Jenn, February 8, 2018February 8, 2018 Sharing is caring! Share Tweet Pin Titanic Museum Attraction can be found in Pigeon Forge, TN and Branson, MO. From the outside you may think this is just another kitschy attraction in a tourist town, because that is exactly what I thought when I saw it. Once you come aboard, you will soon realize it’s a living museum and tribute to the lives aboard the R.M.S Titanic, during its fateful maiden voyage. Twenty years ago, we were mesmerized by the blockbuster film, Titanic from director James Cameron. Very few of us will ever have an encounter with the ship itself, as the wreckage sits on the bottom of the North Atlantic. However, sitting in the theater 20 years ago was a man named John Joslyn, and he has actually been on expeditions to research the elusive ship. Having been in the entertainment industry his entire career, Joslyn had the idea to bring the R.M.S Titanic to life so others could share in this story. Titanic Museum Attraction I had the pleasure of visiting the Branson museum, it was eye-opening and beautiful, stocked full of actual artifacts from the ship, bringing me chills numerous times. When you arrive at the museum you are given a boarding pass, and you will follow your passengers journey as you tour the museum. This is a self-guided tour, so you can spend as much time as you like exploring the R.M.S. Titanic. What I loved about the museum is that it has many interactive elements, which is great when visiting with kids, because let’s face it they don’t want to look at artifacts from a sunken ship. Kids can shovel coal into the boiler, learn how to send an S.O.S distress signal, touch an iceberg and so much more. It will certainly keep them entertained as you explore deeper into the artifacts and beauty of the grand ship. The heart of the ship is the Grand Staircase, constructed from the original Harland & Wolff plans with its oak carvings and cherub statue. Here, a magnificent glass dome reflects light off oak wall paneling and elaborate railings and iron scroll-work. This is a great spot for photos. One of the most eerie parts of the exhibit is the sloping decks, where you will experience the degrees that the stern sloped as the ship went down. I cannot imagine clinging to life as your fate awaits. As your tour comes to an end you will discover your passenger or crew members fate in the Titanic Memorial Room where 2,208 names line this historic wall. Fortunately my passenger did survive and lived a full life following the sinking of the R.M.S Titanic but as we know, not everyone escaped the icy waters on that night in April 1912. If you are visiting Branson or Pigeon Forge this year, be sure to make time to experience this wonderful museum. If you are someone who is fascinated with the story of the Titanic you will appreciate it even more. Travel bransonfamily travelpigeon forgerms titanictitanic museum attraction
