Map out your must-haves ahead of time and you’ll save yourself a lot of stress! Read on to see how… Are you hosting Thanksgiving this year? Whether it’s your first year or your tenth, playing hostess always comes with its fair amount of stress. Even if you’re a seasoned cook, just putting together an affair of that size takes some serious work. And the last thing you want to be on that special day is stressed. That’s why I’m going to share my ultimate Thanksgiving dinner shopping list with you today. If you adequately prepare for the big day far enough in advance, you will have more time to sit back and relax with your loved ones. I’ve actually broken your Thanksgiving dinner shopping list down into the different types of dishes, as well as beverages and decorative accents. I want you to be able to head to the store and quickly pick up everything you need to throw a beautiful Thanksgiving dinner without spending too much time roaming the aisles. Again, my biggest tip is to shop as early as you can. Apart from the fresh items that can’t be frozen, you want to buy everything you possibly can several days before turkey day. Stores sell out of the most popular items FAST! Trust me. It helps if you have an extra refrigerator or freezer in your garage that you can store things in. Or you could drop some items off with someone in your family so they can keep them at their house until the big day. You will be amazed at how fast your own fridge and pantry fills up even with this pared down shopping list! Did I mention I want to make this Thanksgiving super EASY for you? That means a simple, yet tasty menu and simple, yet tasteful decor. There is no reason to go overboard! Ultimate Thanksgiving Dinner Shopping List *I did not list ingredients twice, so while most stuffing and most mashed potato recipes call for butter, for instance, I only listed each type of ingredient once. Does that make sense? Ok, great! Let’s get started! And, remember, the amounts you buy will depend on how many people you’re cooking for. And depending on which recipes you choose to use, you may need a few more ingredients here and there, but this ultimate Thanksgiving dinner shopping list should be a great head start! Appetizer Charcuterie board (I like a LOT of cheese, but you could certainly reduce the amount you use in your board! Just have at least one hard and one soft.) Sharp cheddar cheese Blue cheese Manchego Gouda Brie Salami Prosciutto Olives Grapes Apples Almonds Honey Baguette(s) Main Dish Turkey – Many grocery stores have special offers where you earn points for a free turkey! Great way to save money. Side Dishes Stuffing Bread Celery Eggs Vegetable broth Dried rosemary Thyme Mashed Potatoes Russet potatoes Cream Salt Pepper Salt Roasted Brussel Sprouts Brussel sprouts Olive oil Garlic Cranberry Sauce Can of Cranberry Sauce (There is no shame in putting it in a nice dish right from the can!) Gravy Grab a jar or two from the shelf, it will save you a lot of hassle trying to make it from scratch. Dessert Pumpkin Pie Pumpkin puree Cinnamon Nutmeg Condensed milk Unbaked pie crust (This is another shortcut that’s perfectly fine to take!) Beverages Red wine White wine Sparkling water Apple cider Milk (for the kids) Decor You can whip up a super easy tablescape with the below items. Measure the length of your table and cut the burlap into a rustic table runner. Scatter candles and gourds in various colors and sizes down the runner. It’s as simple as that! Candles Gourds Burlap Pine Cones So, are you ready to host a simple, yet lovely Thanksgiving?! I knew you would be! With this ultimate Thanksgiving dinner shopping list, you’re ready to rock and roll! And if you take my advice and do the shopping plenty early, you’ll be amazed at how seamless your dinner is!
