Cider Hill Family Orchard

With more than 1300 apple trees to pick from, five fishing ponds and plenty of space to run and play,Cider Hill Family Orchard has become a fall tradition for many families in Kansas City, KS. New this year includes fresh barrel smoked barbecue for purchase every weekend, $3 rides on the Cider Hill Express children’s train, and a small cider press for families to press their picked apples into fresh cider! Of course Cider Hill will also be bringing back favorites like caramel apples and cider donuts! Guests are welcome to pack a picnic and take family photos around the scenic property as well.

Cabela’s

At Cabela’s in Kansas City, KS, you can do much more than shop for your next outdoor trip, although you can find just about anything your adventurous heart desires in the 180, 00 sq-ft retail showroom. Here families can learn even more about the great outdoors and the creatures that inhabit them. Kids will love exploring the giant fresh water fish aquarium, the African diorama, and the Cabela’s Mule Deer Museum – all for free! Older kids and adults will love engaging in the shooting gallery and indoor archery test area. A day of shopping and fun can be topped finished off with a tasty wild game sandwich or a sweet treat from Cabela’s Fudge & Nut Shop.

National Agricultural Center & Hall of Fame

The National Agricultural Hall of Fame prides itself on being the only museum chartered by congress to honor America’s farmers. Kids can tour and learn all about the history of agriculture and the significance it has on our lives, all through fascinating artifacts and hands-on exhibits. Walk around Farm Town USA and explore the garden, learn how to hand-wash clothes, and stop in the one-room school-house, blacksmith shop, and general store. Ag Hall of Fame holds many family friendly events each year where families can explore the grounds and take a mini-train ride, including the International Lineman’s Rodeo on Saturday, October 15^th.

Kansas City Renaissance Festival, September 3- October 17 2016

Your family can enjoy concerts, entertainment, good food, dancing, crafts, shows and lots of fun at the Kansas City Renaissance Festival September 3rd – October 17th.  This storybook re-creation of a 16th century English village features a variety of events for the whole family!  Open weekends and Labor Day, 10 am-7 pm, rain or shine.

American Royal World Series of Barbecue

The American Royal is pleased to announce that the 2016 World Series of Barbecue® – the world’s largest barbecue competition – will be held at The Kansas Speedway, October 26-30. Last year’s event at Arrowhead Stadium was an incredible success and set record attendance with over 600 teams and nearly 50,000 attendees. The new weekend dates of October 26-30 were selected to make the American Royal World Series of Barbecue® the finale of the competitive barbecue season for hundreds of elite teams on the barbecue circuit. My mouth is watering just thinking about all the BBQ!

Fall Family Timber Challenge

The Fall Family Timber Challenge is a Halloween themed 2+ mile fun/mud/obstacle course run and is packed with fun and challenging obstacles for the whole family (age 5+). Lots of people ask about how hard it is. Well here is the truth. Your kids will rock this course out… heck they are designed for it. Last season they had participants as little as five up to age 78!
