I am a Sweetest Families Ambassador, tickets were provided for this event, but all opinions are my own.
Hersheypark In The Dark
Hersheypark in the Dark is a sweet not scary, Halloween celebration located throughout Hersheypark, Hershey’s Chocolate World, and ZooAmerica. It offers 13 trick or treat stops, musical entertainment, character meet & greets, and with the exception of water rides, almost all attractions are open.
2019 Event Dates
- October 18th, 19th, 20th, 25th, 26th, 27th
- November 1st, 2nd, 3rd
Hershey’s Chocolate World
Begin your adventure at Hershey’s Chocolate World where the kids can get their trick or treat bags, and make their way around to the three candy stops. Be sure to look out for fun characters in costume, as these are great photo opportunities. Chocolate World also has two photo spots set up with festive fall decor at two of the trick or treat stops. If you haven’t had dinner, grab a bite to eat in the full service deli, offering everything from sandwiches, to pulled pork and soup bread bowls.
Once you finish up at Chocolate World, take the 5 minute walk to the park entrance. You may notice it’s a a little different right now, they are busy bringing Hershey’s Chocolatetown to life!
We visited on a Friday night, and park hours are shorter (5-10 pm), so we headed straight back to Treatville before it got too crowded. Hersheypark does a great job with the theme of Treatville, it is very kid friendly, and not at all scary, there are 10 trick or treat stops within. After you get all of your sweet Hershey treats, there is a fun character photo opportunity at the end.
Allergy Tip: If your child has allergies, please ask the attendant for safe options. All items throughout Treatville are clearly marked for allergens.
After stocking up on candy, it was time for rides, well coasters mostly. Once my daughter became a Twizzler, the kiddie rides were a thing of the past. During Hersheypark in the Dark almost all of the coasters are running (if temps are too cold the steel coasters cannot run). Laff Trakk has an added layer of fun because it is ALL DARK! Talk about getting turned around in the fun house. For the last hour the park is open the classic wooden coasters, Comet, Lightning Racers and Wildcat are also completely dark!
Join a variety of characters for the Hershey’s Character Glow Dance Party beginning at 7.30 pm each night. Located in the Midway America area next to Dispatch Pizzeria on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
ZooAmerica: Creatures of the Night
If your kids are fearful of the dark, this may not be the event for them, ZooAmerica goes completely dark and all you have is your own flashlight to guide you. With that said, I LOVED this experience because we saw many animals that are nocturnal moving and having fun. The wolves were especially playful, and they are normally in hiding if you go during the day. There are also special places where you can interact up-close with the nocturnal friends. We were able to meet an owl, snake and lizard. ZooAmerica admission is included with your Hersheypark admission, so be sure not to miss this creepy, crawly night in the zoo.
Be sure to keep an eye out for Bigfoot! He could be anywhere in the zoo.
