Changes to Five Attractions at Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom Jenn, January 19, 2016September 30, 2019 Sharing is caring! Share Tweet Pin Walt Disney World is always changing, it was part of Walt’s vision to keep moving ahead. A Disney refurbishment can vary and depend on the attraction itself. Here we take a look at five attractions in the Magic Kingdom that will be undergoing refurbishment this year at Walt Disney World. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is confirmed to be under refurbishment April 4, 2016 – July 16, 2016, that is a LONG refurb. We have no clue what will come with the refurbishment, but the three-month closing of this classic attraction is sure to bring something new and exciting to the Wildest Ride in the West. The Magic Carpets of Aladdin are confirmed to be under refurbishment January 25-February 4, 2016. During this brief closure the moving parts of this attraction will be serviced. Notice the loud creak last time you rode this? Once this attraction reopens we expect that the experience will be exactly the same as guests remember it. Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin will be under refurbishment from January 18-February 12. I don’t know about you but I think this ride is showing its age, it’s like the step-sister to Toy Story Mania. The guns have been broken on recent visits, the cars are squeaky on the tracks. Buzz just needs a little work done, and I think this month-long refurbishment will help. Swiss Family Tree House will be under refurbishment July 7-September 25. This classic attraction is full of so many details and is often overlooked, a three-month refurbishment makes me wonder if it is sticking around or being re-branded in someway. I guess time will tell the fate of the treehouse. It’s a Small World will be undergoing a three-week refurbishment August 22-September 16, this is just enough time to spruce it up and make the dolls that bring the attraction to life come alive.
