The Christmas Chronicles

The Christmas Chronicles is a wishful, hilarious, family festive adventure. This is Netflix’s first live action, family film, with a well established director and high-profile actor.

From producer Chris Columbus (“Home Alone”, “Harry Potter”) and director Clay Kaytis (“The Angry Birds Movie”), The Christmas Chronicles, tells the story of sister and brother, Kate (Darby Camp) and Teddy Pierce (Judah Lewis), whose Christmas Eve plan to catch Santa Claus (Kurt Russell) on camera turns into an unexpected journey that most kids could only dream about. After staking out Santa’s arrival, they sneak into his sleigh, cause it to crash and nearly derail Christmas. As their wild night unfolds, Kate and Teddy work together with Santa – as you’ve never seen him before – and his loyal Elves to save Christmas before it’s too late.

The story starts with siblings being left home alone on Christmas Eve (their firefighter dad has died, and their mom has to pull an emergency shift at the hospital). The kids, in typical fashion decide they will catch Santa in the act. While a predictable holiday film, kids get in trouble and Santa saves the day, it is very modern. You may even catch Santa trading his sleigh for a high-speed sports car at one point. Kurt Russell, is not your Jolly Old St. Nick, he’s more like blue-collar St. Nick that wont take any crap.

The Christmas Chronicles

I am not sure this will be a Holiday classic, like Chris Columbus (producer) epic holiday film, Home Alone, but it will do for a cozy night in with the kids. Santa Claus is coming to towns around the world when The Christmas Chronicles premieres on Netflix on Thanksgiving Day, November 22nd.
