Frontera Cocina is the most recent Rick Bayless restaurant to open

Frontera Cocina will delight friends and foodies with exciting flavors and contemporary Mexican cuisine. Warm colors, an open kitchen and lively atmosphere welcome you to a warm and inviting experience. Frontera brings a much-needed mexican dining option to Disney Springs at Walt Disney World. We dined outside looking over the springs because it was a beautiful night, but for this food I would sit on the floor if I am being completely honest. I love margaritas, quacamole and good mexican–and now I will never dine anywhere but here when I visit Disney Springs. Even if I just visit the fast-casual takeout window for a margarita, Frontera you have a fan.

Frontera Cocina Review

I will fully admit I am a margarita snob, it’s my drink of choice anywhere I go and I am quite picky. The margaritas at Frontera Cocina are something my margarita dreams are made of. Never made from a mix and always fresh, you can taste the difference immediately. I ordered the original Frontera Margarita, as I like to keep it simple. My friend ordered the more fancy Watermelon Pink Flamingo Margarita and couldn’t get enough of it. Full disclosure, if we didn’t have our kids with us we would have drank margaritas all night.

If you don’t love margaritas that’s ok, you can choose from tequila flights, special cocktails, beer and wine. There is something to wet everyone’s whistle.

Tip: The world-famous La Cava Avocado Margarita can also be found here, it is a smooth puree and compliments the spicy menu offerings perfectly.

The Frontera Margarita is simple, yet complex and full of flavor.

The appetizer menu abounds with options such as queso fundido, tortilla soup and more. However, we went straight for the bacon–bacon guacamole that is. Just when I thought guacamole couldn’t be any better they went and added bacon! It was silky and smooth and even my two non-quac eating daughters ate it. Frontera Cocina converted my guacamole hating daughters, needless to say our bowl was pretty much licked clean.

I will never love another quac..this was heavenly.

I was already sold on Frontera Cocina before we even got our entrees’, you had me at fresh margaritas and bacon guacamole. Each member of our party decided to get something different so we could take a little taste of one another’s. My oldest daughter seemed to have forgotten that when she literally inhaled her Carne Asada, and I don’t blame her. She was nice enough to give me her caramelized plantains as they didn’t come with my meal, so delicious.

For myself, I decided on the more traditional chicken enchiladas, they were simple and perfect. The red chile sauce reminded me of meals I had in Mexico, nothing from a can here-this is true Mexican cuisine. Both of the little girls in our party dined on cheese quesadillas–while the quesadillas are to be expected it was the sides that made it stand out. Served with fresh grilled zucchini and rice with plantains in it, the girls enjoyed their meals thoroughly.

Fresh dining options abound at Frontera Cocina.

Sadly, we had no room for dessert, but on my next visit I am saving room for the Plantano Sundae because who doesn’t want warm fried plantains, Mexican vanilla ice cream, Cajeta and toasted pecans. Doesn’t that sound decadent?

Overall It’s 5 Stars From Me

I absolutely LOVED Frontera Cocina, If I lived in Orlando I would be a regular without a doubt. For now I will just have to add it to my must-do Disney dining each time I am visiting. Be sure to visit on your next trip to Disney World, be it the grab and go window, lunch or dinner Frontera Cocina will not disappoint.
