Disclosure: I was provided a two night stay in return for an honest review, no further compensation will be given
Are you visiting Baltimore and looking for a family friend hotel? Look no further than the Hyatt Regency-Inner Harbor. This hotel has it all; perfect location, well appointed rooms, family activities and a rooftop pool. Staying in any city those are my top criteria. I absolutely loved my stay here and we will return.
Living nearish to Baltimore it is very rare that I actually stay in the city for anything. Since becoming a travel writer I learned that there are great hotels and activities right at my doorstep; why not explore and share those with my readers as well.
As a kid, I remember the Hyatt Regency Inner Harbor had cool elevators (still do by the way) and we only went for brunch on holiday’s. Last year the Hyatt completed an extensive renovation and it has a fresh new look.
They Hyatt Regency sits on Light Street in the Baltimore Inner Harbor, this is the main thoroughfare around downtown. That means the Hyatt is prime real estate when it comes to a hotel in the city. It’s not tucked away on side streets or in a different area of town; it is smack dab in the middle of the action. When I reached the hotel the valet asked me if I would be using the in and out privileges for guests, when I said I wasn’t he told me that self park would save me $25! I knew from that experience I was dealing with a great hotel. He could have just valet the car for me but he gave me an honest option.
Upon entering the lobby I was greeted with smiling faces and modern decor. When I checked in my room wasn’t ready but they took my phone number and gave me a call when it was ready for us.
Those personal touches make the difference, they very well could have said you are early come back. This hotel is close to the convention center and has its own convention/meeting space but doesn’t feel like a convention hotel in the least. It is very much the opposite.
While we waited for our room we took the sky bridge walkway to the Inner Harbor for lunch. No need to cross a busy highway there are two bridges that connect the hotel direct to the Inner Harbor where all of the restaurants and attractions are. This is a safe feeling being in the city, especially because my husband wasn’t able to be with us due to work. I never felt uneasy or unsafe going to and from the Hyatt Regency.
I often think of myself as a VIP, however others don’t. The staff at the Hyatt must have gotten the memo because we were surprised at check in to learn we would be in the Presidential Suite. My poor kids are already spoiled by our travel life; but this was a whole new level of swanky. We also had a double room connecting, so don’t worry I have pictures to share of a room that isn’t $3,500.00 per night. The suite was enormous! Oh and it had a bidet; no kids don’t wash your face in the toilet spray. It was an absolute treat and it had stunning views of the Inner Harbor.
The Harborview Double was the room the kids had, and it was fantastic. Also boasting amazing views of the Inner Harbor you can’t go wrong with any of the Harborview options be it a double room or a suite. For a city hotel it had more room in the rooms than most, I like this. I don’t want to sleep in a closet. The room of course had two double beds, a full bathroom, fridge and coffee maker as well as a large screen tv and large dresser. Perfect for a family of four like mine.
Aside from the rooms the Hyatt Regency offers a stunning rooftop space for families to take a break. With a pool, a tiki bar with light offerings and an outdoor fire-pit you can relax and enjoy the view. Believe me Baltimore is HOT in the summer y’all. We loved this area; and honestly would have loved a full day to enjoy it. The pool hours are 10 am-10 pm, and at dusk the fire-pit is ignited so you can roast smores’.
