When it comes to resort choices at Walt Disney World you have 22 different options from the Value Category to the Deluxe Villas. Nestled in the middle of those is the Moderate Resort Category, a family favorite because it is reasonably priced and offers great amenities. Today we are going to dig a little deeper into the Caribbean Beach Resort and why it is a great family option.
This large, serene Resort features 2109 guest rooms is built around Barefoot Bay, a 45-acre lake with white sand beaches, gorgeous birds and a relaxing, tropical feel. While you cannot swim in the bay, you can relax on the sand beaches in a hammock while the kids play.
Many different lodging options with various views are available at this resort. The standard rooms are 300 square feet. They can accommodate four guests, plus one child under 3. There are no elevators so you will need to request a ground floor room if you have trouble with stairs. Because this is the largest of the Disney Resort properties if you don’t want to walk a little in the morning for coffee, or to get to the bar in the evenings I suggest a Preferred Room location. All of the rooms at Caribbean Beach Resort have a pull down wall trundle, so these rooms can sleep up to 5! That is a fantastic amenity at a Disney Resort.
Seven heated swimming pools top the long list of amenities. The main swimming area, Fuentes de Morro Fort is a pirate themed fortress with two waterslides and whirlpools. Fun activities include a Pirate Adventure Cruise, Disney movies under the stars, arcade, volleyball, bike rental, fishing, playgrounds and activities for the kids. Transportation is convenient to the parks and around the resort via buses.
Several restaurants are on site. Shutters at Old Port Royale offers casual dining featuring steaks and seafood. Old Port Royale Food Court has a wide variety of tasty options and poolside snack- bars have snacks and all-day quick-service meals. Pizza delivery is available.
