After a horrific experience on Megabus (don’t ever use it!) I needed a different way to get to The Big Apple last weekend. New York is 3 hours from me, so flying is out, train is too expensive and you could never pay me enough to drive there. I reached out to a local company, Gunther Charters to see if they could lend me a hand in getting to New York. They were more than happy to help me out! I am so glad I reached out to them, what an easy and wonderful experience.
Gunther Charters and Hunt Valley Motor Coach offer non-stop, round-trip service to New York, NY four days a week from convenient locations throughout the Baltimore, Metro Area. Service operates Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and every day during the month of December. I was in need of a ride to New York on Friday and a ride home on Sunday. You arrive in the city at 10.30 am, give or take depending on traffic and are dropped off 1 block from Times Square at the Celtic Pub (46th and 8th Ave). This was extremely convenient for me because I was staying in Times Square for my conference. if you need to get to a different part of the city you can grab a cab or head to the 42nd Street Subway station.
When your day is over the same coach picks you up at the same location (46th & 8th Avenue) and departs the city at 6.30 pm, not 6.35, not 6.40 exactly 6.30 those doors shut and he is heading out of the city.
The charters are well appointed with wi-fi, electrical outlets, bathroom and larger seating areas. It’s more of a VIP road trip to New York with about 50 of your closest friends. The driver I had was absolutely wonderful, cracking jokes and making the ride very welcoming. On the ride home we were treated to a viewing of Nanny Mcphee on the bus television screens, that definitely helps to pass the time for any parents traveling with little ones.
Here are the pickup and drop off locations in Baltimore Metro area:

You may pay a little more for this service than the “other” bus companies offer but I can tell you it is well worth it. I don’t know anywhere that I can get roundtrip transportation for $60 to New York City and have such amazing service provided.
- $30.00 per person (one-way)
- $55.00 per person (same day, round-trip)
- $60.00 per person (overnight)
Do yourself a favor on your next (or first) trip to The Big Apple, sit back and let Gunther Charters do all the driving. From the “Beltway to Broadway”, The Big Apple Express is my transportation choice for all trips to New York City.
