LEGOLAND Beach Retreat: Built for Kids

Little kids and big kids will love the brand new LEGOLAND Beach Retreat. This fun resort is located across the street from LEGOLAND Florida. It is truly a tropical escape with families in mind. As you pull into the resort you stop at a security gate, this is a security gate and so much more. It is the actual check in for the resort. Within just a few minutes, we check in and are off to our bungalow room. We did not have to get out of the car, we did not have to drag the kids to check in, and we did not have to pull the luggage out of the car. As a mom of 2 kids, I already love this resort

The resort itself is huge with 83 bungalows with 166 rooms. Each bungalow is divided into two rooms. The bungalows are separated into coves, themed after popular LEGO Mini Figurines. Each cove features several bungalows with bright colors, a LEGO parrot and surfboard, and an outdoor seating areas. In the middle of the cove is a grassy area and playground. I spent several hours relaxing in the outdoor seating area (table and chairs), while the kids played on the playground.

The bungalows are perfect for families. They sleep up to 5 people with a Queen Bed and a separate kid room (separated by a curtain) with bunk beds and a pull out trundle-bed. There are notes left on the bunk beds saying it is a “Monster Free Zone.” The bungalows also feature WiFi, kitchenette with mini refrigerator, safe, dresser, and flat screen tv. There were touches of LEGO everywhere.

Steps away from the bungalows is the pool. The huge pool deck is festive with bright colors and lots of lounge chairs. There is a poolside bar, fire pit, and playground. They even have towels by the pool, so you can leave your towels at home. The beach entry pool is filled with foam LEGOS (hundreds of them!) You can stack these LEGOS, build animals, or even a raft while you swim in the pool. Our son spent hours one evening creating the ultimate house out of the foam LEGOS.

Across from the pool is the main building. The main building features a store, lounge, and restaurant. The center of the building is the popular sandcastle that lights up. This sandcastle is an area for the kids to build more LEGOS. For mom and dad, you can grab a drink at the lounge called Bricks Beach Bar.

The entire family can enjoy breakfast and dinner in Sandy’s Castle Restaurant. There are LEGO themed murals along the walls, LEGO kites, white clouds on the ceiling, and even tropical LEGO palm trees along the buffet. We enjoyed both dinner and breakfast at Sandy’s Castle Restaurant and loved both experience. For more value, breakfast at Sandy’s Castle Restaurant is included with your stay.

Palm Tree Traders is the place to go to purchase LEGOS and themed merchandise, as well as sundries you may have forgotten. Be sure to stop by the cashier to trade Mini Figurines. The kids loved this activity! Before you leave the gift shop, you can also purchase a postcard and mail it in the LEGO mailbox to your friends and family at home.

In the evening, be sure to enjoy the spectacular Florida sunset over the lighthouse. When the sun sets, you can watch the lighting of the lighthouse. This nightly activity is hosted by a pirate. The kids loved the lighthouse lighting. After the lighting, you still have time to swim and play, before the pool closes. Parents can relax in the lounge chairs or by the fire pit, while the kids have fun. You can end the night with a walk along the lake, with the moon shimmering off the water.

If you are planning to visit LEGOLAND Florida, the resort provides a complimentary shuttle from the resort to the park.  Be sure you also take advantage of extra Brick Time at LEGOLAND Florida.  This allows you extra time to play at the park, before everyone else.  This resort is very reasonable in price starting from $135 per night plus tax. There is a lot of “valued added” that makes this resort is more popular; including the daily breakfast buffet, wi-fi, complimentary shuttle service to the park, and waters/juice in the rooms. If you are ready to “hang ten,” head out to the new LEGOLAND Beach Retreat for a tropical getaway.
