Getting sick at Walt Disney World doesn’t have to ruin a trip

This is it, the big trip to Walt Disney World. You have planned for months, ordered the Magic Bands and made dining reservations. The morning of the trip you pull off the epic surprise for the trip of a lifetime and two days after you arrive someone gets sick. Calm down, this is not the end of your perfect vacation, just a little bump in the road.

Many times I have visited a parks First Aid Stations. They can give single doses of many medications in most cases, like Tylenol or Pepto. Nurses are available during normal park hours to help with whatever you may need. Child suffer from nose bleeds? No problem, they will pack the nose and help you get on your way. It’s really an excellent and well run place. You will be out the door in no time and able to get to that Fast Pass + attraction.

If you happen to be at your resort and get sick, In-room medical services are available at all Walt Disney World Resort hotels. Simply touch “Front Desk” from your in-room phone for assistance, 24 hours a day. Each resort has a variety of medicine for purchase in the gift shop as well.  I have also found that if you are too sick to leave your room (or have a little one you can’t leave alone) Disney will bring you items like clean sheets, chicken soup, water and crackers for no charge.

If you forgot a prescription medicine at home or your doctor calls in a prescription for you or your child while on vacation you can get scripts filled at Turner Drugs. They only take cash or credit and will provide you with the paperwork to submit to your insurance when you return home. Once your prescription is filled Turner Drugs will deliver to your resort, and it is always pretty quick. Turner Drugs is a Disney Preferred Provider.

Unfortunately you cannot control a medical emergency. That is where Florida Hospital Centra Care Walk-In Urgent Care Centers come in handy. They are open 8:00 AM to midnight, Monday through Friday, and 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Saturday and Sunday. Complimentary transportation is available from your Walt Disney World Resort and many insurance plans are accepted.  We all know how urgent care centers work, this isn’t always the fastest route. So I would use this as a last resort personally.

Another option is a local minute clinic, such as CVS. My friend Patty, from No Guilt Life used this service in May and has nothing but good things to say.

Now that you know what your options are, don’t let a little sickness ruin your trip of a lifetime! There are plenty of options to get you on the road to healing in no time.
